The
last Ambassador's meeting was held at the NCM
during the Labor Day Celebration. There was
an overflow crowd on hand that filled the conference
room. A
few press releases were first discussed:
Corvette Museum Receives Exhibits/Displays Enhancements
LS Holding donated to the NCM a wide array of
memorabilia from the Corvette Americana Museum
in Cooperstown, NY valued at over $300,000.
The items donated include murals, stage lighting,
and other Corvette-related items.
The
200 square foot photo murals depict 20 different
American landmarks and several well-known city
skylines, all of which will provide scenic backdrops
for special cars in the NCM's collection. The
murals will permit the museum to become more
educational and more entertaining to the entire
family.
Finkel Memorial Established
at Corvette Museum
The
Glen Regional Corvette Club of Elmira, NY presented
a check to the NCM in the amount of $25,000
to establish the Bernie Finkel Periodicals Section
of the Museum's evolving library and Archives.
As publisher of "Keepin' Track of Vettes", Finkel
brought Corvette racing to life and made new
friends with his practical writing and enthusiasm
for the sport.
Finkel
was killed in an accident in 1986, but the Bernie
Finkel Memorial will ensure the memory lives
on forever. The new section of the archives
and the Glen Regional Corvette Club can be seen
on-line ... CLICK

Library Furniture
Library
furniture owned by the late Edward N. Cole,
president of GM in the late '60s and early '70s,
has been donated to the NCM for use in its new
research center. It includes a 27-foot walnut
conference table with 18 chairs, seven study
tables and chairs, room dividers and other items.
Corvette Museum Library
Receives $10,000
Andy
and Bethany Roderick of Proctorville, OH donated
another $10,000 to the NCM library. Last weekend
during a special open house of the Library,
stock certificates in a publicly traded company
were transferred to the museum. The museum will
convert the stock to cash and use the proceeds
to help offset some of the expenses associated
with getting the Library functional.
The other topics discussed were ways to bring
up attendance, getting cars to stop at exit
28 and visit the museum and getting the word
out in travel literature about the NCM. It was
also noted that raffle ticket sales by individuals
was way off this year, but on the whole ticket
sales were up.
Caravan 99 was discussed also. They are already
in full swing getting ready for next year. If
you are planing on attending get your room accommodations
now!
