Mike
& Toni Sams found this Corvette in Tyrone GA,
in a barn and the car was still driveable. They
took the car apart and found strange looking things
that looked like some kind of scoops. Being a
mechanic for years, Mike had no idea what the
scoops were. There was a hole in the firewall
behind the distributor for a tach cable peculiar
to fuel injection model. All these things, plus
the 6500 RPM on the tachometer red line led them
to believe that this car was a big brake-fuel
injected car. The car received a 96.4 which is
a Top Flight and a 98.2 at Bloomington in June.
Vette Fest gave it received a Gold Spinner with
a score of 98.8. That qualified us for a Triple
Crown Award. It also received the Best Original
Stock Corvette award. The car was marked with
a 99.0 at Lake Placid and received the Duntov
Award. In October at Knoxville, it won Best of
Show. VetteFest featured the car in the showcase
and in 1998 at the World of Wheels in Atlanta,
it received the Outstanding Antique and Restored
Car award.
