The National Corvette Museum is pleased to announce that our third and final HPDE of 2008 will be held at Putnam Park Racetrack in Mount Meridian , Indiana , approximately 50 miles west of Indianapolis . The 1.8-mile, 10-turn track has small elevation changes and large clear run-off areas. An ideal track for both the beginning student and the experienced driver, this track has seen major professional drivers testing their cars. Ron Fellows tested the C5-R at Putnam along with other rides and the list of pros includes Johnny O, John Heinricy and Andy Pilgrim to name a few.
The school is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5, 2008. We will have a full program with class levels from total beginner to extremely experienced advanced drivers. There will be room for a total of 70 students plus instructors. Students must drive either a coupe (including Z06) or FRC Corvette; convertibles are only permitted if they have an SCCA roll cage. The price will be $340 for members and $390 for non-members. The registration fee will include a long sleeve event t-shirt, lots of track time and a lunch voucher for the driver for each day. Non-members will receive a one-year NCM individual membership with their payment. Cutoff date for refunds is September 3, 2008. All students in the beginner, novice and intermediate level will have classroom instruction and will be accompanied by an instructor in their car while on track. Advanced students will be checked out for possible solo status.
Tech and check in will be at the HQ hotel on Friday - late afternoon.
The NCM is also offering 2 opportunities for NCM PrimeDrive. The first is PrimeDrive Ladies and the second is an open PrimeDrive for individual who are not quite sure they are ready or interested in a 2 day HPDE. Please click this link for more information on PrimeDrive.
As our participants in our HPDEs discover, there are more smiles per mile at one of these schools than you can ever imagine. And if the event alone isn't enough to excite you, imagine having members of the Corvette engineering and production team as your fellow students.
