NCM VIR HPDE
June 28-29, 2010
Reserve June 28-29, 2010 on your track calendar for the NCM annual pilgrimage to VIRginia International Raceway and some of the best time you will ever have in a car. As has become a tradition, the NCM will hold a 2-day High Performance Driving Event at VIR. If you have never been to an HPDE, have you ever dreamed of experiencing what your Corvette can do? Have you ever wondered what it is like to experience the capabilities of the car and tested your mettle? Nestled in the hills east of Danville , Virginia is a 3.27 mile loop of banked, flat and off-cambered asphalt waiting to test your resolve and sharpen your skills. Experience the pinnacle of race tracks at VIR with its 17+ turns, a 4,000 foot straight, high speed esses, the Roller Coaster and the famous Oak Tree turn.
The school is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, June 28 th and 29 th, 2010. In keeping with our past practice of providing extensive support for beginners, we will have two “novice” sections, one for absolute beginners and one for those who have now done a few events, along with intermediate, advanced and instructors groups with room for a total of 125 students (not counting instructors). Students must drive either a coupe or fixed top Corvette; convertibles are only permitted if they have an SCCA roll cage. The price will be $450 for members and $490 for non-members. Non-members will receive a one-year reduced-price NCM individual membership with their payment. There is no charge for instructors and they will continue to receive lunch and track time. All students in the beginner, novice and intermediate level will have classroom instruction and will be accompanied by an instructor in their car while on track. Advanced and Intermediate students will be checked out for possible solo status.
F If you are not certain you want a full out track experience, we will again offer a very limited number of NCM PrimeDrive slots, an abbreviated 1-day version of our full 2-day school. PrimeDrive allows a driver to sample an HPDE school without a full 2-day commitment. PD students pay $100 and will get a special PrimeDrive T-shirt, classroom sessions , one session riding with an instructor and one session driving on track with an instructor accompanying them. Those signing up for PrimeDrive should download both forms and fill them out just as the full 2-day students do.
All information along with mandatory downloadable drivers’ classification forms and information packages with details on tech preparation, event schedule, hotels, routes and maps and other necessary information are available at the bottom of this page.Immediately after registration fill out and return the classification form. We strongly recommend that registrants download and read the Drivers Package when the classification is downloaded. It is especially important to read the technical requirements on helmets and restraints. If you have questions on your equipment please contact us promptly; arriving at the event with incorrect or unacceptable equipment will keep you from participating and there will be no refunds. All registrants will be placed on a VIR listserv for us to send information and event updates. All students and instructors must register; if you have a problem online call either Roc (270/467.8802) or Karen (270/467.8804). Registration closes May 3 rd, 2010 .
Make sure when you do register that you select your proper run group and shirt size. If you are not sure of your experience level, select the lowest one that fits your skills, we will be adjusting placements closer in to the event but we must have some idea of your experience to begin with.
