HPDE-VIR 2010

VIR again provides the setting for one of the NCM’s most outstanding HPDE schools.  We make our annual pilgrimage to Danville Virginia for 2 days at VIRginia International Raceway on June 28-29.   One of the country’s premier circuits, our High Performance Driving Event at VIR is always highly anticipated and sells out in mere minutes.  Imagine driving a world class track as part of a run group with more than 10,000hp on the track at one time.  Think of the sounds as Chevrolet V8 muscle shows what it can do.   As in the past, members of the GM Corvette Team will be in attendance as students and instructors.  Past attendees at our HPDEs have included Tom Wallace, Kirk Bennion, Harlan Charles and Wil Cooksey to name just a few. As our past participants in HPDEs have discovered, there are more smiles per mile at one of these schools than you can ever imagine.

We continue to have run groups based on experience; beginner, novice, intermediate, advanced and instructors with room for a total of 126 students (not counting instructors). Students must drive either a coupe or FRC Corvette; convertibles are only permitted if they have an SCCA roll cage. All students in the beginner, novice and intermediate level will have classroom instruction and will be accompanied by an instructor in their car while on track. Advanced students will be checked out for possible solo status.

For those people who are interested but not sure if 2 days of track are for them, we will be continuing our PrimeDrive mini-school.  This one-day school limited to 25 registrants features a classroom session, one on-track session with an instructor in car and one session ride-along with an instructor.  The PrimeDrive is an excellent opportunity to sample our driving program before taking part in a full school.

On-line registration should open in March and you will want to make your reservations as soon as it goes live as this event will fill up in MINUTES.  Make sure you are signed onto NCM eNews to be notified about the event. On-line registration includes a personalized event hardcard and event t-shirt.
