Lime Rock ALMS Road Trip

July 20 - 25, 2010

What do you get when you combine the excitement of an ALMS race and the fun of a Road Tour? New for 2010 the NCM is offering an entertaining 4-day, 5-night journey through the Connecticut River Valley. Coined a ‘NCM Road Cruise,’ the tour begins in Old Saybrook, CT and ends with two action packed days at the ALMS race at Lime Rock Park.

The trek begins the evening of Tuesday, July 21 with participants arriving for a meet and greet at the Comfort Inn of Old Saybrook, CT. Festivities officially begin the next morning when after breakfast the group will travel to Callaway Cars and see where Callaway Corvettes are created, and enjoy private tours and seminars. Next stop is nearby Essex, CT – a very old, small New England seaport town. Enjoy time on your own to stroll, shop and visit the seaport museum before rejoining the group for a scenic ride on the Essex Steam Train along the Connecticut River. The day wraps with dinner at the Brushmill Restaurant and a mystery ride to a special location for dessert.

Thursday, July 23 starts with a drive along the Connecticut River crossing the Hadlyme Ferry and on to the Gillette Castle for a tour of the home of actor, director and playwright William Gillette whose depiction of Sherlock Holmes is still the most noted. Continuing on the group will travel the Connecticut countryside to Colchester and the site of Consumer Reports Autotest Division. See demonstrations on how vehicles are tested, the extensive facilities on site and the various tracks that are used. See the same equipment car company engineers see when they come to the facility and learn about Consumer Reports operations. After lunch, travel to a hotel in Farmington, CT for some rest and relaxation because the next two days kick off with a drive to Lakeville, CT and the Lime Rock Park racetrack.

Enjoy special parking within the Corvette Corral and participate in all of the Corral activities as well as a special activity reserved for Road Tour participants. At the close of the ALMS race on Saturday, gather back at the hotel for a pizza party and camaraderie as you re-cap the trips adventures.

The member Tour fee for the primary registrant is $1250 and for their guest $250 and includes 5 nights of hotel with continental breakfast, ride on the Essex Steam Engine railroad, the Wednesday night dinner, ferry tickets, admission to Gillette Castle, lunch at CR Autotest Division, Corral tickets for the Lime Rock ALMS race and an end of event pizza party. .
