Registration opens on the newly expanded R8C/Xperience Reunion
August 12-14, 2010
The R8C/Xperience Reunion is expanding to meet the interests of the 7000+ participants scattered from coast to coast. Formerly a bi-annual on-site Museum event, it has been expanded to an annual event targeting the varied interests of the participants. Keeping the every other year format in place, future Reunions in even numbered years will continue to be centered on the Museum and local activities. Overlaying this format will be specialized tours held during odd-numbered years in areas around the country meeting the needs and wishes of our more distant participants. The on-site events will remain in the late September – early October time period while the Tour events will be timed appropriately for their location.
For the 2010 transition year we have the overlay of both types of events and participants can choose their preference. Careful joint planning by both the Delivery and Events Departments has resulted in an event that reaches across a broad spectrum of interests. Whether you are a road warrior that likes to get out and about, or you are the kind that likes to stay in one area, our R8C Reunion offers something for everyone. This year’s event offers the choice of partaking in a road tour to Indiana or focusing your activities at the Museum.
Both On-Site and Road tour participants have the option to attend seminars at the Museum on Thursday, August 12 before the Touring participants start on their journey the following day. Thursday afternoon the Tour participants meet to get maps, route instructions and a review of the travel plans. The road tour travels to Indiana with the first stop lunch at the famous Schnitzelbank Restaurant followed by a guided tour of Jasper Engines and Transmissions. A short drive from there will take us to Dr. Ted’s Musical Marvels Museum. The day wraps with arrival at the incredible 5-star West Baden Springs Hotel with shuttle service to nearby French Lick Rresort and Casino. Saturday’s itinerary includes a tour of scenic Nashville Indiana (Brown County), a drive through French Lick, Indiana including a Railway Museum tour and Train Ride wrapping up with a banquet at the hotel. The return trip to Bowling Green features an optional stop at the famous Moonlite BBQ in Owensboro. Registration for both the on-site and Road Tour events is the same with the Road Tour total package price $955 for two people. Those choosing to gather in Bowling Green have the joint event on Thursday followed by two days of varied activities which include our popular Makers Mark Road Tour, a BBQ lunch Road Tour, a poker run, golf cart autocross and banquet in addition to Thursday’s selection of seminars.
As we develop the alternating year schedule, current plans call for a California Coast Tour in early October 2011 so make sure you are signed on to NCM eNews to be fully updated on developing plans.
